The program calculates the price range from your answers to easy questions like whether or not the computer powers up. Various scenarios like loud sounds from the hard drive, could mean that part is broken and needs replacement. In this case, a technician might need to replace the hard drive and re-install the operating system (Windows, Linux, etc.) resulting in the high end of the price range. If a cooling fan was producing the sound and mistaken to be the hard drive, that might result in the low end of the price range.
